| Born
in Ghazvin, Iran, Hassan Tabar acquired a sound knowledge in the vocal
art of Iranian classical music repertoire (called Radif) with
Khorram-E- Ghazvini.
He then started studying the santoor at the Tehran Centre for the Protection and Diffusion of Music with Mas'ud Shenâssâ.
In 1982 he started teaching santoor. Having settled
in France in 1985, he continues teaching there, and also performing in
all of Europe.
Musician, lecturer, researcher and producer,
he has released five CDs of santur available on the market. He had
supervised the publication of CDs collection (Genuine Iranian Music)
for the French label 'Club du Disque Arabe'. He got a Bachelor degree in Musicology,
a Master degree and
a D.E.A. in Ethnomusicology (Paris IV - Sorbonne University). He is now preparing
a PhD.
He wrote a book in French (2006, L´Harmattan, Paris) :
